Semangat Kemerdekaan

During school times, I hate August the most. It's not because of the exam period but because of the Bulan Kemerdekaan, the Independence Month.

Let me explain.

I hate it because that was the only month/time we showed our love to our nation by buying lots of flags to be decorated around the classroom and school compounds. You can imagine where the flags gone after the celebration.

I hate it because that was the only month/time we showed our love to our nation by painting the biggest flag in the town and got published in the newspaper. The next year the school opposite mine got into the newspaper for bigger flags created. That's not patriotic, that's competition to get fame.

I hate it because that was the only month/time we showed our love to our nation by spending our money off to buy flags to display on our properties.

At the end of the day, you will see many flags being thrown away / scattered around.

What a waste of money and so patriotism eh?

  1. U have a strange idea! For me, m kinda ok with it. Yeah, u r right! Perhaps it looks like they are competing each other to get fame, but isn't it good? Competing each other to get fame for the sake of our own country? I think it's a good idea! About the flags being scattered everywhere, it depends on the individuals, I think. They can just keep it and use it next year but if they are think they are rich enough to buy new ones, then go ahead. It's their choice! It's not a waste of money for sure. Think of it as having a party. You may buy a lot of balloons just for the sake of decoration. It is no used at all after the ceremony, but why do u still buy it? There are unnecessary stuff that becomes useful at a particular point of time..

  3. I really hate the month of August back then. Really waste of time and money and effort in putting up all the decoration and most of the times, the flags will ended in the dustbin. balloons are different, we are talking about flags here. National flags.

  4. Correct me if I'm wrong... the pride of a country is not inside the flag, but it's inside ur heart. :)
